During the last officers meeting I was instructed to post what the Fraternity's policy is regarding allowing guests into our building. First of all let me start this way...the Moose is a private organization whose privileges belong only to its members. Private organizations are able to retain their protected and tax free status only so long as their members adhere to this requirement. Family and qualified guests are welcome but only when accompanied by a member and their membership card.
My wife Wendy and I have been checking dues cards at the door on Friday evenings for some time now and it is obvious to me that some of you are not adhering to the rules when it comes to the private policy.
You can only bring a prospective member into the lodge once. The second time they come through our doors they must fill out an application and pay the associated application fees and dues before they are able to enter. The new board of officers and I will no longer allow this very important rule to be circumvented in any way as it jeopardizes our tax free status with the IRS.
This applies to men and women alike...full time Floridians and part time Floridians. It is a fair and equitable policy and is in place to protect all of us. If you have any questions or concerns regarding any or all of this you may call the office and I of course will be happy to explain it.
In the mean time there is also some clarification needed on what a guest may or may not do while they are in the lodge.
A guest may not make a purchase of any type...food or beverages.
A guest may not purchase instant bingo tickets.
All of these are privileges of membership and are only to be enjoyed by members.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and I will see you at the lodge.
