OCTOBER 2017 SOCIAL NEWS
I would like to thank the members that have come out to support the great social events that we have had so far this year. Thank you for your participation at all of these events. This helps our lodge to continue to grow.
On September 30th, we had the second annual Ho-Down. This event was co-sponsored with one of the local food pantries to help fill their shelfs before the weather changes and we ring in the holidays.
Save this date. OCTOBER 14th. Come have ‘A Night with the King’ and hear some of his great songs and watch Elvis in action. Yes, we are very fortunate to have one of the best Elvis impersonators in our town of Janesville, so bring your family, bring your friends and bring your neighbors and come out to our lodge and have a great evening with Elvis. We will be serving finger from 6 to 7pm with entertainment starting at 7pm and finishing up at 10pm. There will be a $10.00 entry fee at the door.
In October we will be hosting a costume party on the evening of the 28th following trunk or treat so come on out and have some spooky fun. Grape ape will be the DJ for the event, there will be prizes for the best costumes, and finger foods will be served. So come on out and enjoy a night of spooky fun.
On November 11th we are planning a veterans’ dinner and dance. We will be serving pork, chicken, mash potatoes and gravy with a vegetable. There will be music by Jack Farina for dancing. The cost for the veterans will be $5.00 and all non-veterans will be $10.00, come out and help us HONOR our veterans. There will be more information coming in the future. Veterans if you would like to wear your uniform you are more than welcome.
The lodge’s social committee continues to work hard on planning these events for our great fraternity and local organizations. As we try to theme our events around different themes our guests are not required to dress up, just come out and enjoy. So with all this hard work and planning going on, all we ask is that you, your family and friends come out and support our great lodge and use the P for PARTICIPATION in our new and fun theme RPM.
We have other great events coming up throughout the fall and winter, so remember to save these dates and come out and enjoy your wonderful lodge. More information will follow as time gets closer and more events are planned. I can’t wait to see all your smiling faces at our lodge.
Yours In Moose Friendship
Michael Wixom, JR. Governor/Social Chairman

Greetings Lodge Members and Co-Workers
It is hard to believe we are approaching October, you couldn’t tell it by the weather these days. Really, shorts and flip-flops, when we should be reaching for jackets. All I can say is, it should be an interesting winter according to the Farmer’s Almanac. But, you aren’t reading this to discuss the weather you want to know what is going on with your Lodge.
There are many exciting things going on here at the Janesville Family Moose Center. We continue to bring new members into our wonderful fraternity, but unfortunately not as many as we need to help support your Lodge. We need new blood to bring exciting ideas to keep the Lodge vibrant and growing. We have a Social Committee who are planning special events so keep your eye on the Social Quarters Bulletin Board and the Bugle for upcoming events.
I just returned from the Wisconsin Moose Association’s 101st Annual Convention. What an exciting time was had by all, the fraternalism was great and we came home reinvigorated with ideas to make your Lodge the friendliest and best place in town. You will be seeing lots of things happening here at the Janesville Moose Family Center.
In closing, I am pleased and proud to ANNOUNCE our very own, Dennis Dost, has accepted the position of State Membership Chairman. He is enthusiastic about his new position so watch for what he has planned for the State and your Lodge.
As always my door is always open to all members and coworkers who questions or concerns about our fraternal home. Please fell to stop in and chat.
Fraternally Yours,
Matt Boardman, Administrator
