Greetings Lodge Members and Coworkers,
As a chaperone at the annual Moose Youth Awareness program held in Kenosha Wisconsin. I just spent a week with an amazing group of 57 young people from all over the United States. These students developed and presented Moose Talks to children in primary grades, they competed in their home states for an opportunity to compete at the national level for $30,000 in scholarship money. These astounding students arrived on Thursday as strangers and left on Monday as best friends, all focused on the theme of the weekend, “Dream Big”. Each student took with them that anything they can dream is possible, and the foundation of achieving their dream is working with others; Dreamwork is Teamwork.
These young adults helped me renew my dream for our Lodge and being mindful that Dreamwork is teamwork, I am looking to each Lodge and chapter member to help in reaching our dream of having a sustainable fraternal home. This will allow us to continue to support our children at Mooseheart, seniors at Moosehaven and our community. The first step in maintaining our Lodge is membership; we need 7 new or re-enrolled Lodge members to meet our growth goal. This goal is achievable if we all try.
Our new Moose campaign for this year is: Moose-Honoring Community Heroes. As a Lodge and Chapter we will be having numerous activities to honor all our community heroes. Currently, Moose International is offering free one year memberships to first responders, so if any of you know EMTS, fireman or police officers offer them this opportunity to join our fraternity.
Just a reminder the applications for the Heart of the Community scholarship are due by June 30th. This scholarship is open to all children and grandchildren of Moose members in good standing. The student must be entering their junior year of high school in September 2017. The applications are available on-line at www.mooseintl.org or stop in and I will be glad to give you one.
My family and I would like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and deeds during the illness and passing of my mother, Sue Boardman. It was greatly appreciated and a tribute to the life of a great mother and dedicated Moose member. I look forward to seeing everyone at the Lodge.
Fraternally,
Matt Boardman, Administrator
